10.17633/rd.brunel.7145963.v1 Henry Nebrensky Henry Nebrensky MICE Archivist's Toolset Brunel University London 2018 Grid computing data management Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment MICE - the international Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment data curation Distributed and Grid Systems 2018-09-28 13:33:33 Software https://brunel.figshare.com/articles/software/MICE_Archivist_s_Toolset/7145963 <p><a href="http://mice.iit.edu/">MICE</a>, the international Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment, is a project to design, construct, operate and test a cell of a muon ionisation cooling channel that may be used for a future Muon Collider or Neutrino Factory.<br></p><p>The object of the MICE experiment is to take a beam of muons created from protons from the ISIS accelerator hitting a titanium target and to show that it is possible to create a narrow intense beam, using detector techniques from particle physics.<br></p><p>The MICE Archivist's Toolset is a set of command-line shell scripts for use by the Archivist and/or Data Manager of the MICE experiment. They were originally (2010) written for upload and replication to tape storage of the MICE RAW data (<a href="https://doi.org/10.17633/rd.brunel.3179644" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">doi:10.17633/rd.brunel.3179644</a>), and continued to be used since for handling of the MICE Miscellaneous data (<a href="https://doi.org/10.17633/rd.brunel.5024885" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">doi:10.17633/rd.brunel.5024885</a>) on the EGI/WLCG computing Grid.</p><p>The scripts use plain text files for the local meta-data, and use the <a href="http://wlcg.web.cern.ch/">WLCG</a> lcg-utils tools for data operations.</p><p>The scripts (sh) are available from the public repository (Launchpad): </p><p><a href="https://launchpad.net/mice-archivist-tools">https://launchpad.net/mice-archivist-tools</a></p><p>either by Bazaar checkout or by browsing directly (via the "Code" tab).</p>
