In Case There is a Reason, June to August 2017<div><br></div><div>The full performance can be viewed here: <a href="https://vimeo.com/248363712">GOING on Vimeo</a><br></div><div><br></div><div><div>In producing this historical research, 'In Case There is a Reason' offers a new interpretation and documentation of the Theatre of Mistakes’ work (1972-1982). The Theatre of Mistakes’ was revolutionary in that they pioneered a new structure for performance art which encapsulated architecture, choreography, poetry as well as visual art.</div><div><br></div><div>The aim of this research was to examine the contemporary validity of the work, using a new form of direction and staging with a cast of five who play out mannerisms of departure in five choreographed acts, while attempting to be each other. Because cast members played each other, as opposed to a single character, every performer had to learn all the parts and choreographies. <br></div><div><br></div><div>The research process included making use of archival material (drawings, photographs, videos, planning notes from actual performances, publicity) which later become part of the exhibition to document extensively the group’s work at that time. Templeton directed a new version of the group’s performance piece <i>Going</i>, with a new young cast, every weekend for the duration of the exhibition, each time with a different performer configuration. <br></div></div><div><br></div><div><div><u>Cast:</u></div><div>Manuela Albrecht</div><div>Javier Cardona</div><div>Yoko Ishiguro </div><div>Florence Peake </div><div>Andrew Price</div><div>Taylor Smith</div><div><br></div><div>The cast of six alternates.</div><div><br></div><div>Directed by Fiona Templeton.</div><div>Auditorium design by Simon Jones studio after The Theatre of Mistakes.</div><div>Curated by Jason E.
